Escapement Simulator
A kinematic model of the Swiss lever escapement — and its coaxial and detent relatives — running at a frequency you set. Slow it down to 0.1× to see each impulse and locking event separately.
Educational simulationOutput is illustrative, not measured. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom. Where this differs from your equipment's documentation, follow that documentation.
Showing the 2D reference diagram. The interactive model needs WebGL, or use the switch above.
What it does
- Lever, coaxial and detent escapement geometry
- Play, pause and 0.1× / 0.5× / 1× / 2× slow motion
- Adjustable frequency, pallet angle, jewel position and amplitude
- Visualised energy path and sectioned jewel contact view
- Live amplitude, efficiency and escapement error readout
Limits
- A teaching model. It shows order and motion; it does not predict a result.
- Parameter ranges are clamped. Extreme values are refused rather than rendered badly.
- No WebGL, no problem — the 2D reference diagram carries the same information.
Simulation output is illustrative and not a measurement. Nothing on this page certifies a repair, guarantees timekeeping, or endorses a commercial product.
